The Eightfold Path of Yoga

“By following these limbs of yoga, the impurities dwindle and the light of inner wisdom shines forth.”
— Yoga Sūtras 2.28

1. Ethical Living

The foundation of yoga is ethical living—choosing nonviolence, truthfulness, integrity, moderation, and generosity. This is how we build a life of trust and alignment.

2. Personal Discipline

We cultivate inner clarity through self-reflection, cleanliness of body and mind, devotion to sacred study and service, and surrender to something greater than ourselves.

3. Embodied Practice

Movement becomes sacred when done with awareness. Physical postures are tools to strengthen the body, awaken energy, and prepare us to sit in stillness.

4. Breath as Life

Breath is the bridge between the body and the spirit. Through intentional breathing, we calm the nervous system and deepen our connection to the present moment.

5. Withdrawal from Distraction

In a noisy world, we practice turning inward. This is not escapism, but a sacred act of tuning in to what truly matters.

6. Single-Pointed Focus

We train the mind to rest in one place—whether on a candle flame, a mantra, or the rhythm of breath. This focus becomes a gateway to peace.

7. Meditative Absorption

From focus arises meditation—a steady, effortless state of awareness. Here, we begin to witness our true nature beyond thought or form.

8. Union with the Divine

The final step is not an ending, but a merging—a sacred union with the infinite, where separation dissolves and only love remains.

Yoga is for Every Body and Every Soul

You do not need to be flexible, experienced, or spiritual to begin this journey. You only need the willingness to come home to yourself.

Yoga Temple is here to light the path. Whether you come seeking healing, clarity, devotion, or simply peace—we welcome you.

“Practice becomes firmly grounded when done with consistent dedication over a long period of time.”
— Yoga Sūtras 1.14

Let your practice be an offering. Let your breath be a prayer.
Let this be your return to wholeness.

Yoga is a Path

At Yoga Temple, we understand yoga as a sacred path—a journey of remembering and returning to our wholeness.

The word yoga comes from the ancient language of Sanskrit and means union. It refers to the integration of body, mind, spirit, and soul. But more than that, yoga is a way of life. It is the art of living in harmony with ourselves, each other, the natural world, and the Divine.

At its core, yoga is a spiritual discipline—a system of inner transformation that guides us toward peace and liberation. This path is outlined through eight interconnected practices known as the Eightfold Path, or 8 Limbs of Yoga.
